Interested in becoming a Communiversity instructor?
The University YMCA is always looking for new instructors and interesting classes, and we are pleased that you are interested in teaching a class, but there are a few things I'd like you to know first. If you have any additional questions or comments feel free to contact me. Below you will find my contact information.

First, you will need to print out, and completely fill out this printable application form (PDF format, 60K). (You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open this file.) Be complete and thorough! The program description you write on the application form will be the one used in the course catalog. If you wish to teach more then one class, please fill out a sheet for each class, but not for different sessions of the same class. In order to assure high quality classes for our students, we will also need to know what qualifies you to teach this course. So, also include a brief write up describing your experience in this field, your resume, or other appropriate information. Please return the forms with all relevant information to the University YMCA Program Office.

You the instructor and the Y will split the course fee. If you teach a class in the University YMCA building you will be paid 50% of the course fees you charge for your class. If your class is not held in the YMCA building, you will be paid 70% of the course fees you charge for your class. When deciding how much to charge as your course fee, bear in mind that many of those that participate in Communiversity are university students, and will be deterred by a high course fee, but also remember that you need to make your time spent teaching worth your while. If you wish to teach simply to share your experience and knowledge, then simply make your class free. The one time per semester per student $5 Registration Fee each student pays will compensate the Y for itÕs resources and staff time.

Also keep in mind materials fees. If students will need any equipment for a class they should pay the materials fee directly to you the instructor. Do not include the making of copies in the materials fee, the University Y has a copier that any Communiversity teacher can use for their course, free of charge. Also, you can make copies of flier to advertise for your class at the Y provided that the flier has the "A part of Communiversity" logo on it (logo available on the web or at the Y, contact me for more information.)
