LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION...
Just one block from the University of Illinois's Quad, living at the University YMCA in Champaign, is both convenient and affordable. Students reside on the third floor of the building. This historic building was constructed in 1938 across the street from the Lincoln Hall on Wright St. The University Library is just one block south of the YMCA; three blocks to the north lies campus town & engineering campus. You couldn't live any closer to campus unless you were sleeping on the quad!

Facilities:
YMCA offers many unique advantages. The facility can house up to 12 students; the perfect amount to capture a family-like atmosphere. The Third Floor Residence consists of 2 triple rooms and 3 double rooms. Each room has a high-speed internet connection, and each resident also has access to extra storage space in a walk-in-attic. For recreation and relaxation, residents can take advantage of the large lounge. This has been the home to Ping-Pong tournaments, Super Bowl parties and many other activities. The lounge is also equipped with a cable television and a computer for checking email and writing papers.
Each room is furnished with a bed, dresser, desk, lamp and bookshelves. Included in the reasonable monthly rate is: free local calls via the hall telephone, air conditioning, basic cable in lounge, laundry facilities, and all utilities. Limited parking is available for an additional monthly charge. There is an additional $25 per semester charge for broadband internet access. The YMCA meets all University Certified Housing standards.
Rates:
You can't beat the low cost living at the Y. For Fall/Spring 2008-2009, residents will pay only $295 for a double and $270 for a triple. The YMCA only charges for 8 months. International students may elect to stay over winter and spring breaks at no extra charge! Reduced rates are also available during the summer semester at a cost of only $240 for a single or $175 for a double. There is a deposit required of $100 for room and $5 for a key.
Meals:
Meal plans are available through the University Residence Halls and some certified housing, like Bromley Hall or Illini Tower. While we do encourage the purchase of meal plans, the YMCA does have kitchen facilities: stove, sink, refrigerator & microwave. Residents only need to provide their own food, utensils, and cleaning equipment. In addition, there are many restaurants and fast food facilities in Campustown.
Work Opportunities:
Residents may have the opportunity to work at the YMCA information desk located on the first floor. Deskwork provides students with an efficient way to earn extra money, and get a little studying done during the non-busy periods. The "Y Eatery" as well as other offices located within the YMCA often hire students.
